Information for Applicants

If you want to apply for an internship, a Master's or a Ph.D. position, please read here first.
You will not receive a reply if it is clear to me that you haven't read this page.

Ph.D.

In Sweden, a Ph.D. student is hired as an employee for 4 or 5 years. This is, of course, very attractive, but it does mean that positions are limited by the grants we're able to obtain. If a Ph.D. position is available, it will be listed on the Centre's open positions page, and it will also be announced internationally through appropriate channels. The announcement will contain information on how to apply, so there is no need to write to me personally unless you want more information about the position. These positions typically have short search periods, so react quickly!

Master's

If you want to follow a Master Programme in Uppsala, don't write to me. Read the university's pages on Master Programmes instead.

If you are a Master's student in Uppsala and are looking for a thesis project (exjobb), you can look through the available projects, or you can come by my office. Note that I might be able to define a project for you outside the ones listed. I expect a prospective thesis project worker to have taken image analysis courses.

Intern

I have little time for supervising interns, as this often takes more time than doing the work myself. Unless you can help in my research fairly independently, you need not apply.

If you are looking for an internship, discuss in your email how your interests intersect with mine. You need to show me that you have done your homework and know about my work, and have thought about how you can contribute. Any generic email will be ignored. This includes emails where my name and the reference to one of my papers has been pasted into.
