Venue

The course will be held at Centre for Image Analysis, House 2,
Polacksbacken, Uppsala University, Uppsala.
Travel directions to CBA are found here.
More information about Uppsala and links to hotels can be found at Uppsala Tourism.

Lecturers

Professor Christer Kiselman, Dept. of Mathematics, Uppsala University
Dr Pierre Soille, JRC, Ispra, Italy

Computer Exercises and Assignment

There will be two scheduled computer exercises during the course where the participants will use MATLAB to apply morphological operations in practice. The Image processing toolbox in MATLAB contains many basic morphological operations which will be used in the exercises, e.g.:

  • Erosion/Dilation
  • Opening/Closing
  • Watershed transformation
  • Distance transformations
  • h-min/h-max

Each participant should also select a topic for her individual project. The project can be applied or theoretical and should correspond to one week of work. The results of the project work should be presented in a written report in order to achieve full credits for the course.

Examination

PhD Students who solve the assignment get 3 Swedish credit points (4.5 ECTS credit points). The examiner is Ingela Nyström, Centre for Image Analysis, Uppsala University.

Contact information

For more information about the SSBA summer school contact Ingela Nyström.

Cost

The course will be free of charge for PhD students and advanced undergraduate students in image analysis and computer vision. For other participants the fee is 3000 SEK. All participants must be members of SSBA.
Lunches, a social dinner, and an excursion are included in addition to the course itself. Travel and accomodation are not covered.

Schedule

The course will start Tuesday August 14 at 12:00 with lunch, and end on Friday August 17, 2007 after lunch. We walk from CBA at 12:00 to the lunch restaurant together on August 14.
