Welcome to the homepage of Maxime Bombrun
I have a Ph.D. in Computer Science and currently hold a PostDoc position in the Center for Image Analysis in the Department of Information Technology of Uppsala University in Sweden.
I am looking for new challenging projects in which I will be able to applied the knowledge I developed through the Geo- and the Bio-Imaging.
I am also curious about new domains of application for image analysis such as astronomy and oceanography.
Here, you will find information about my main research interests, my teaching activities and some personal information.
January 2016 - Present
Large-Scale Data Analysis for Digital Image Analysis Applications
October 2012 - October 2015
Characterisation of Volcanic Emissions through Thermal Vision
April 2012 - September 2012
Java applications development for Detection and Tracking of DNA repair centers
The aim of this project was to improve the understanding of the nucleid organisation and the spatial
distribution of the DNA repair center. Due to the large amount of data involved, I translated the
existing codes in Java. Then, I developed an algorithm to segment, track and register nucleid
through time.
April 2011 - September 2011
iPhone application development for lighting design
I developed an iPhone application to model luminance maps in interior spaces: iPhotoLux. I carried
out several experiments to calibrate the camera of the iPhone4. Then, I updated an application
which provides daily brightness data of a position to optimise photovoltaic panels unfolding.
June 2016

Engineering
Specializing in Computation and Scientific Modelling
(Applied Mathematics).
A new image processing algorithm for nucleus and lipid droplet segmentation and features extraction.
Adipocyte, Features extraction, High-content analysisAn open-source platform which combine the analysis of gene expression with quantification of cell and tissue morphology in large screening.
Microscopy basedA 2D point change detection routine to characterise event waveforms apparent in the precursory, strombolian phase.
Explosive regime transition & RadiometryVideo recorded during a field campaign on Santiaguito Volcano in 2008.
Plume edges characterisation & TrackingMain project of my PhD. The detection of hundred of particles ejected during a strombolian eruption recorded at 200Hz with a thermal camera.
Segmentation, Tracking, High-speedVideo recorded during a field campaign on Stromboli Volcano in October 2012.
Thermal camera, VolcanologyMain project of my internship. An automated high-content analysis to follow the evolution of the DNA damage response with fluorescent markers at the cellular level.
Double strand breaks, Protein characterisationDevelopment of an iPhone application for characterisation of luminosity in closed environment through the device's camera.
Luminosity design, Smartphone applicationI am not currently available but I am always looking for new challenging project.
What impresses me is Maxime's ability to identify, understand and solve the problem in hand, even when that problem is from a field (initially) alien to him.
Prof. Andrew Harris
I can confirm that the works he develops are excellent and that he demonstrates both great theoretical and human skills.
Prof. Vincent Barra
Maxime is hard working with great work ethic and strong ability to adapt to new task rapidly.
