Title Feature-based characterization and detection for 2D and 3D digital pathology
Abstract Improvements in computational capacity and the availability of automated whole slide scanning devices, allowing digitization of histological samples, are currently transforming the field of pathology. Digital pathology offers new possibilities to apply image analysis in histopathological problems with the aim of both automating and supporting the tasks of pathologists as well as enabling new types of quantitative analyses for characterizing tissue samples. This talk will summarize some of our recent work on digital pathology: feature-based characterization of early neoplastic changes in an animal model of prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia, automated detection of metastatic breast cancer cells for computer-aided diagnostics and ongoing work on 3D digital pathology.
