Title Human Decision Making as Cognition Over Time
Abstract In this seminar, I will present and discuss a draft of a paper on human decision making in technical systems I originally presented at SPUDM in Barcelona 2013, and which I have developed further since. In the paper, I argue that one important premise for modelling human decision making is "cognition over time" and that, in order to understand what humans do when they make judgements and take measures, we need to consider not only how people adapt to changing task properties, but also how they actively change decision tasks to fit with overall objectives and cognitive resources available. In the paper, I use results from field studies from five different domains to evaluate the model empirically.
