||In this talk I will present an overview of my PhD-research about studying professional operators in the field, such as train drivers and ferry captains while they are driving. It is very difficult to find ways of how to understand what these operators are doing/thinking. Their skills tend to make them perform their work tasks in an automated way. Therefore, they are not able to describe their work, without changing their work task from driving to explaining how they drive. I here suggest an alternative method for information acquisition called Collegial Verbalisation. Drawing from the potential of the shared knowledge that exists among skilled operators with experience from the same work tasks in the same work environment.
