||Since the mid '90s Local Binary Patterns (LBP) has become a well known and well used texture measure. Many publications introducing new variants of the classic LBP has followed. They all aim at overcoming some of the weaknesses of LBP. In this seminar I will show an evaluation of a family of LBP variants all designed to better cope with noise. To get a fair comparison all parameters are optimized and the methods are tested on several data sets and noise level. To put all of these measures into perspective I also run Gabor filter banks and measures on gray level co-occurrences on the same data sets.
