||Double-felted press nips are common in papermaking today to achieve efficient dewatering. The interface between the press felt and the web is in this context very important and has been studied in a project at Innventia to enable a determination of the amount of water in the interface. A method to study the double felted interface during a load situation has been developed by creating imprints of the felt surfaces. To study topography features of the interface a second step is taken, producing replicas of the felt surfaces. These exploratory methods and the image analysis of the data, mainly using frequency analysis, will be presented.
