||The fibre orientation in paper is an important structural property that influence the dimensional strength of the sheet and the tendency of the sheet to curl and twist at moisture changes. In this seminar I will present a new method for estimating the fibre orientation in 3D. The proposed method can be applied directly in greyscale images and provides local orientation estimates. The fibre orientation distribution and fibre orientation anisotropy can be obtained for parts or the whole volume. Good results are obtained for both synthetic test data and fibre based materials imaged with X-ray microtomograpy.
