Title Hardware-accelerated volume visualisation of parametrically mapped dynamic breast MRI
Abstract To efficiently examine and interpret four-dimensional (4D) data requires efficient visualisation. In the case of searching for lesions in the breast using dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI (DCE-MRI), the common practice today is to look at slices of time frames, i.e., 2D projections that give a very limited overview. By performing point-wise parametric mapping of the time series, it is possible to reduce the 4D data into multivariate 3D data that can be colour coded by using a multi-dimensional transfer function. In this work we describe a method for visualising such volumes with hardware accelerated volume raycasting using colour maximum intensity projection (MIP).
